Can u convince someone to trust you?

An ex and I are trying to see if we can pick up where we left off years ago because we are still in love with each other. The problem is that he is apprehensive because I hurt him in the past and he isnt sure if he can trust me again....is there someway that I can show him that I wouldnt?
