What area in Kuala Lumpur should I book a hotel?

I am having a 2 night stopover in Kuala Lumpur and have been told to catch a bus from the airport that goes to KL central. I am currently looking for accommodation but don't want to get stuck somewhere far away as we are arriving in on a late flight. Any other budget transport options to popular hotel areas would also be appreciated :)
