My friend got scammed HELP!?

My friend was stupid enough to fall into one of those scams were they send you a check for $5000 and you deposit it and buy a money order for$3000 send it to them and then you get to keep the $2000 that’s left. Well the check was no good (duh) but it had showed that it had cleared in her account so she went ahead and sent the money order and started to spend her share when the bank informed her the check was no good. My friend is single mom with two kids and an ex husband who won’t pay child support and now on top of all her bills she owes the bank $5000 for the counterfeit check. SADLY the police will do nothing because its out of country (Canada) and the bank said she should have waited 11 days even though it showed up in her account and the number that she got with the check (so she knew were to send everything) says they have no clue what she’s talking about and everything’s legit. So dose any one know what my friend could do? Is there anyone she could contact for help? Or is she
